According to UNDP estimates! Damage from double earthquake in Venezuela amounts to 6.7 billion dollars

Direct damage from the double earthquake of June 24 in Venezuela amounts to 6.7 billion dollars, according to estimates by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in its macroeconomic report for the first half of 2026.

As reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), the multilateral entity explained that the figure is not automatically reflected in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), because this indicator accounts for the production of goods and services generated over a period and not the value of existing assets or assets.

The agency noted that this estimate contemplates the patrimonial impact of the disaster, whose consequences included human loss, displacement, destruction of homes and damage to basic services, with a greater incidence in the state of La Guaira.

In addition, UNDP forecasts GDP growth of close to 6.5% by the end of the year, a reduction of 0.5% compared to what was expected before the earthquakes of 7.2 and 7.5.

The report indicated that during the first six months of the year there was a favorable performance in oil and commercial activity and in tax revenues.
