Argentina: Explosion at Tolosa substation causes massive blackout in La Plata

A powerful blackout affected residents of La Plata and several towns in the north of Gran La Plata, Argentina, during the early morning of Monday, after a transformer exploded and a fire broke out in an electrical installation located in Tolosa.
The incident occurred around 2:30 in a substation located in the area of 9th Streets, between 527 and 528, in addition to requiring the intervention of four fire crews who worked to control the flames while technical teams began work on the damaged infrastructure, international media reported.
The fault left the supply out of service in a large area that mainly reached T olosa, Ringuelet, Gonnet, City Bell and sectors of Villa Elisa, as well as areas close to the north of the urban center of Platense, which generated completely dark streets and complicated traffic during the early hours of the morning.
