Argentines protest against the bill on the Inviolability of Private Property

The General Confederation of Labor, (CTA), the two sides of the Confederation of Workers of Argentina, the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy and various social and political organizations are protesting this Thursday in the immediate vicinity of Congress while the Senate debates the bill on the Inviolability of Private Property, in addition to rejecting its scope because of the social and territorial implications indicated by the unions.

The mobilization continues despite the fact that the Government withdrew the chapter on the sale of land to foreigners from the official package, although it maintained the rest of the initiative that enables express evictions in the face of arrears in the payment of rent, eliminates the concept of community ownership for native peoples, repeals the Fire Management Act and reduces state powers in the area of expropriation, Telesur reported.

From the leadership of the CTA, it was reported that the regulation deepens the deterioration of the living conditions of the working sectors and violates constitutional rights, in addition to being part of a set of structural reforms promoted by the Government. The secretary general of the power plant, Hugo Godoy, stated that “the bill on the Inviolability of Private Property is part of a series of structural changes being promoted by the Government and that are worsening the living conditions of workers”.
