At least 11 dead after the collapse of a building damaged by bombing in Gaza

At least 11 people, including five children, died and 14 were injured early this Wednesday morning after the collapse of a six-story residential building located in the southwest of Gaza City, according to medical sources from the Al Shifa hospital and the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
The building, which served as a refuge for displaced families, presented serious structural compromises after having received direct and indirect impacts during the bombings carried out by Israeli military forces in the area.
Members of the Civil Defense and rescue teams are operating in the area to try to free dozens of people who remain trapped under the ruins. Salvage maneuvers face severe operational limitations due to a lack of heavy machinery and specialized debris removal tools.
Humanitarian agencies and local health authorities warned that the death toll could increase in the coming hours as excavation and inspection work progresses at the site of the collapse.
