Bolivarian Government advances in the recovery of Termocarabobo and Yaracuy Center Plant after double earthquake

The Minister of People's Power for Electric Energy, Rolando Alcalá, offered an assessment of the restoration and optimization of the National Electric System (SEN) installations at the Termocarabobo and Planta Centro Yaracuy thermoelectric power plants, following the damage caused by the earthquake events recorded on June 24.

The owner of the energy portfolio detailed the highly technically complex maneuvers that are executed simultaneously in the infrastructure to stabilize the distribution of the service.

“Among the fronts of work, progress is being made in the recovery of the transmission towers of the Planta Centro Yaracuy line and in the attention to the elevator transformers of the two remaining generation groups that have yet to be incorporated into Termocarabobo,” he said.

In addition, Alcalá highlighted the work in the generation unit number 6 of Planta Centro, an equipment with an installed capacity of 600 MW, which is expected to be added to the national system in the coming months.

“We are still working to incorporate it into the national electricity system in the coming months. All these works seek stability and continuity of electrical distribution in the central, western and southwestern region of the country, which has been well affected by the damage that occurred after the double earthquake of June 24,” said the minister.

These maneuvers are part of the comprehensive contingency plan to restore reliability to the electricity supply in the regions most affected by recent seismic activity.
