Calcutta Venezuelan Film Festival paid tribute to victims of the double earthquake

The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Republic of India, within the framework of the cultural program to disseminate national art in the Asian country, organized the fourth edition of the Venezuelan Film Festival in Calcutta, in association with the Forum for Films Studies and Allied Arts, and in collaboration with the National Film Distributor Amazonia Films and Fest Hunters.
During the film event, which was held at the Nandan III Auditorium in the city of Calcutta, solemn tribute was paid to the fatalities of the two earthquakes recorded in the South American nation in the country on June 24.
The activity began with a minute of silence on the part of the attendees; later, in the opening remarks of the event, the director and dean of studios of the SRFTI, Ashoke Viswanthan, expressed the solidarity of the film community of the state of West Bengal with Venezuela in these difficult times.
He also reiterated the spiritual support and feelings of brotherhood of the Indian people with Venezuela, and gave a brief summary of the festival's programming, emphasizing the high quality and diversity of the films to be screened.
In the same way, he thanked the Diplomatic Mission for the opportunity to continue showing the best of the films produced in Venezuela for the fourth consecutive year, which contributes to cultural exchange between the two nations.
On this occasion, six national feature films were screened: “Bolivar, the Man of Difficulties”, “Zamora, Land and Free Men”, “Love on the Hill” and “Children of Salt” , four films produced by the Venezuelan State, through the Villa del Cine Foundation; as well as the independent films “Batracios” and “Vulgar”.
