The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Friday with the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), Dennis Francis, in the framework of the XIX Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (Mnoal), which is being held in Kampala, Republic of Uganda.
During the meeting, both authorities discussed “priority issues on the global agenda, such as the promotion of the prosperity of nations through cooperation based on equality, diplomacy for peace and the cessation of blockades and unilateral economic aggressions,” the Venezuelan Foreign Minister reported in his X account.
Diplomats agreed on the need to prioritize dialogue as a tool for the resolution of conflicts that humanity is going through and the importance of returning to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations (UN).
In the context of the multilateral organization, in June 2023, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela was elected to hold the Vice-Presidency of the Fourth Committee (Special Policy and Decolonization), in the person of the Alternate Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Joaquín Pérez Ay, and of the Sixth Committee (Legal Affairs), in the person of Counselor Jhon Guerra Sansonetti; as well as to serve as the Rapporteur of the Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs), in the person of Counselor Robert Poor Brito.
