Chief rabbi in Venezuela submitted a request to the Foreign Ministry to re-establish diplomatic relations with Israel

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Félix Plasencia González, received this Sunday at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, in Caracas, the Chief Rabbi of the Israeli Association of Venezuela, Isaac Cohen, who delivered a letter addressed to the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez, in which they raise the need to re-establish diplomatic and consular relations between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the State of Israel.

The purpose of the request is to “meet the needs of the Jewish community in our country,” the foreign minister said on his social networks, according to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade on his website.

“Venezuela has historically welcomed, with open arms, an important Jewish community, whose contributions have contributed and continue to contribute to the well-being and development of our nation,” Minister Plasencia acknowledged.

In this regard, Plasencia González reiterated to Rabbi Cohen the gratitude of the Bolivarian people and Government for the assistance provided by Israel to his country, after the double earthquake of last June 24.

Following the double earthquake, a relief and humanitarian assistance delegation from the State of Israel visited Venezuela and focused its work on the evaluation of collapsed structures, the diagnosis of vulnerability in buildings and the design of urgent contingency plans for emergency management.
