China activates red alerts for heavy rains in areas of the center and south of the country

On Wednesday, China activated red alerts for rains in regions of the center and south of the country due to rainfall that increased the risk of floods, floods and geological disasters, in addition to exceptional accumulations in urban and rural areas, according to official reports.
The city of Yichang, in Hubei province, raised its warning to the highest level after an area recorded more than 65 millimeters of rain in one hour, while local authorities warned of an extremely high risk of river floods, mountain floods and landslides.
In the south of the country, the city of Sanya, on the island of Hainan, also issued a red alert after accumulating 130.6 millimeters of rain in three hours in an area close to a school, in addition to expecting that the convective system will maintain its intensity and leave new accumulations of between 50 and 100 millimeters in the next six hours.
The authorities recommended suspending classes in some areas and called for caution in the face of possible floods, floods and landslides, in addition to maintaining vigilance in areas vulnerable to the evolution of the weather system.
