China plans to boost cooperation between emerging economies at the XVIII BRICS Summit

The spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Mao Ning, highlighted the strategic importance of the BRICS mechanism as a fundamental platform for the integration and development of emerging markets and countries of the Global South, ahead of the holding of the XVIII Summit of the block.

During the multilateral meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping will deliver a central speech and hold exchanges with other leaders aimed at analyzing the geopolitical situation and promoting the mechanism of international coordination.

The central debate of the summit will focus on structuring operational strategies to address the instability of the current global landscape, considering proposals to facilitate cross-border payments and increase the interoperability of banking systems between member countries. These initiatives seek to consolidate a financial architecture that is less dependent on traditional circuits and to strengthen the economic sovereignty of developing peoples.

In addition, the diplomatic representation ratified Beijing's commitment to assume the pro tempore presidency of the group in 2027, expressing the willingness of the Asian nation to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation in trade and investment. Among the strategic areas of promotion, the digital economy, the service sector, the management of green minerals, artificial intelligence and the development of special economic zones stand out.

The position expressed by China reaffirms the role of the BRICS as a determining engine in the construction of a multipolar, balanced and equitable international order. Faced with pressure from traditional centers of power, the consolidation of this block of emerging economies represents a guarantee for the defense of multilateralism, self-determination and complementarity between the countries of the Global South.
