The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, used his official account on the social network X to denounce the murder of a correspondent for the Iranian television channel Press TV, which occurred in southern Lebanon. The president accompanied his publication with the video of the event, raising the tone of his criticism against the Israeli government and its allies.
In his message, the Colombian head of state directly identified those responsible for the act, stating: “This is how Netanyahu's friends killed this journalist in Lebanon.”
Beyond the specific complaint about the attack in Lebanon, Petro extended his speech to Colombian domestic politics. The president linked these same actors to the financing of operations aimed at “destroying progressivism in Colombia,” suggesting a strategy of regional interference.
He also warned of an alleged intention of these sectors to replicate in Colombian territory what he described as a “genocide” in the Gaza Strip.
