The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, denounced through his social networks a series of alleged irregularities during the electoral process in the country. The president warned about the use of “digital witnesses” that, as he explained, would have the purpose of modifying the E14 electoral forms.
In his statement, Petro held the registry authority responsible for allowing the removal of key security algorithms, such as the “time stamp” and the “Hash lock”, designed to protect the integrity of documents. In addition, he questioned voting abroad, pointing out the possible participation of non-resident juries and the issuance of multiple votes, situations that he demanded to resolve during the official ballot.
The head of state stated that the apparent superiority of the extreme right in voting is based on fraudulent actions. According to their assertions, this political sector would have relied on “cheating”, the use of “foreign dark money” and “labor constraint” practices to influence the results of the elections.
Petro issued a strong warning about the premature announcement of results. He stressed that declaring a president through the media, without waiting for the completion and verification of the final scrutiny, constitutes an “abuse” and an “insult” both to the laws of the nation and to the Colombian people.
