Colombia reports 12,584 homes collapsed by the earthquake

The National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) updated this Tuesday the damage balance after the earthquake that shook the country last Monday, which so far leaves 12,584 homes collapsed and 74,873 partially damaged.

The director of the entity, David Tamayo, explained that the emergency, declared a national disaster, also impacted public and private infrastructure with 172 compromised buildings, 2,198 educational centers, 825 community spaces and 216 health centers, in addition to 71 aqueducts, 29 bank branches and five air terminals, Telesur reported.

Faced with the human toll, the authorities confirmed 273 deaths, of which 250 were admitted to Legal Medicine and 189 bodies have already been handed over to their relatives, while 40,753 families were affected, equivalent to 97,515 people.

For its part, the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation counts 3,824 injured and is actively searching for 377 missing persons in different regions of Colombian territory.
