The Curaçao Commercial Office reported that direct flights between the Caribbean island and Venezuela have been reactivated, starting with connections from Barcelona, in the state of Anzoátegui and Maracaibo in Zulia.

“The reactivation of direct flights will facilitate closer ties of brotherhood between the two peoples, as well as the boom in trade, tourism activity and investments in key areas of the economy will facilitate family reunion and cultural exchange, while promoting economic development,” the agency said in a press release, the Ultime News portal reported.

They also pointed out that historically Venezuela “has played a fundamental role in the evolution of Curaçao”, which is why the gradual resumption of flights from Barcelona and Maracaibo airports “will strengthen business ties between the two countries, giving rise to investments in key sectors such as oil, real estate, commerce and the financial sector”.
