Death toll after earthquake in Japan rose to 13

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi reported that fatalities from the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that shook southern Japan this Tuesday increased to 13.
“There are still
people waiting to be rescued, so we are facing a
real race against time,” Takaichi said, noting
that all available resources have been deployed.
The earthquake, whose epicenter was located about 10 kilometers deep under Kumamoto prefecture, on the island of Kyushu, occurred at 16:27 local time (07:27 GMT) on Tuesday, Telesur reported.
The number
of military personnel deployed in the response work amounted to
approximately 4,600, of which 170 are concentrated exclusively on rescue operations
in the partially collapsed mall.
