The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, reiterated this Thursday that the use of military ships by the United States (US) in the Caribbean to attack Venezuela is aimed at “establishing a policy of regime change in the Bolivarian nation and not to combat drug trafficking.”

During the extraordinary plenary session of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Rodríguez stressed that “the United States has many ways to combat drug trafficking, and the first thing is its geographical location, they are simply misplaced, it is not in the Caribbean Sea it is in the Pacific where they have to fight the main fight in collaboration and cooperation of the international community involved where this battle must take place if we really wanted to prevent that drug from arriving” to the North American country.

In his speech, he accused the United States of using a naval military operation in the Caribbean as a pretext to cover up its real objective, which is to promote a change of government in Venezuela.

In this regard, he pointed out that the presence of warships, missiles and nuclear ships does not respond to a genuine fight against drugs, but is part of a strategy of aggression to force an alteration of the Venezuelan political order.

The Vice President confirmed that, according to international categories, Venezuela is not a relevant country in the area of drug trafficking. “We are the targets of an imperialist threat,” he stressed.
