A delegation of parliamentarians from Venezuela participates in the 114th International Labour Conference (CIT), which will take place until June 12 at the headquarters of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland.

‎‎La delegation is made up of deputies Francisco Torrealba, América Pérez, Eglé Sánchez and Ángel Marcano, the National Assembly (AN) reported on its website.

Deputy Torrealba said that the meeting discussed Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the possibilities of optimizing work or replacing professions or occupations. The conference concluded that this will depend on who writes the formula.

The deputy also said that the future of employment cannot be allowed to be decided by an algorithm behind closed doors.” “It must be the result of a transparent social dialogue between governments, employers and workers.‎La AI is a tool of a historic scale, but one that lacks ethical awareness, empathy and criteria of justice,” argued the parliamentarian.

‎En his message on networks, Torrealba explained that, although it is true that the use of AI automates processes, it must be clear that it cannot replace the dignity or the transformative force of the men and women who sustain the productive fabric.

‎Consideró that‎el the real current challenge is not technological, but one of governance. “The real risk in the workshop, office, school or field is not innovation itself, but algorithmic opacity, data bias and deregulated labor movement,” he said.
