Deputy Minister for International Communication, Rander Peña, confirmed the arrival in the country “of a contingent of rescuers from the United Kingdom, who are joining the search and rescue of the victims of the earthquakes of June 24.”
The United Kingdom sent a search and rescue troop plus a canine tracking unit to Venezuela, in order to join the efforts of recovery and comprehensive care for those affected and people in vulnerable situations after the double earthquake last Wednesday.
For his part, the Venezuelan ambassador to the United States, Felix Plasencia, highlighted the solidarity response of the international community at critical moments such as the one suffered by the country due to this natural catastrophe.
“The international community is responding, and the international community is coming to lend its shoulder and support the efforts of the National Government,” he said.
