Diplomats boo Netanyahu and leave the room during the 81st UN General Assembly

During the 81st session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, was greeted with boos and interruptions before beginning his speech to the multilateral forum.

In protest against military actions and the blockade in the Gaza Strip, as well as aggressions in the region, hundreds of international delegates and diplomats left the plenary hall massively prior to the Israeli leader's speech, expressing their rejection of the genocide and the ethnic cleansing being suffered by the Palestinian people.

According to Telesur reports, Netanyahu's appearance comes amid severe international questioning over the toll of victims in Gaza, where the military offensive has left more than 73,000 dead and severe destruction of the region's infrastructure. In addition, the attempt to exploit the UN's multilateral space as a propaganda platform in a context of internal political campaigns was criticized.
