The Colombian rescue delegation arrived at Maiquetía Simón Bolívar International Airport to immediately join contingency operations after the double earthquake. This humanitarian mobilization is part of coordinated international efforts to address the emergency and accelerate rescue efforts in areas with structural collapses.
The contingent is made up of the elite USAR COL-1 team, which has more than 60 certified specialists in the search and location of people in collapsed structures. The technical group arrived accompanied by four canine pairs trained for rescue tasks in confined spaces, thus optimizing operational response times in the field.
In addition, the humanitarian mission entered the country with 12 tons of specialized equipment and heavy high-tech tools for the safe removal of debris. These material resources and logistical supplies will be deployed as a matter of priority in the hardest hit sectors of the state of La Guaira and Caracas.
With the arrival of this contingent, the binational cooperation network activated after the earthquakes of last June 24 is strengthened. National authorities coordinate the entry of these technical personnel with local rescue forces to ensure immediate and efficient assistance to affected communities.
