Fire at the Imbabura volcano devours 270 hectares in Ecuador

A large forest fire is still active at the Imbabura volcano, with a preliminary damage of 270 hectares in the Pucará Alto, Compañía Alto, Corazón de Imbabura sectors and the back of San Pablo del Lago, in Ecuador.
According to the report of the Integrated Security Service ECU 911, to combat the emergency, a Unified Command Post was installed with the participation of the Otavalo Fire Department, the National Police, the Mayor's Office and the Prefecture.
24 firefighters, 30 municipal agents, two monitoring drones and brigades of community members and volunteers operate on the ground.
For its part, the Secretariat of Risk Management identified four active foci in Corazón, Camuendo, Guagua Imbabura and Yaku Mama.
The firefighters managed to control the fire by 90% on the flank near the São Paulo lagoon and are evaluating the deployment to the Imba Burita sector.
