FSB detains Ukrainian agent who planned to attack British diplomats in Moscow

Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation reported the arrest of a former guard at the British Embassy in Moscow, identified as an agent linked to the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), who collected tactical and logistical information on British diplomatic personnel for planning terrorist actions in the Russian capital.

According to investigations by the Russian intelligence agency, the detainee was acting under the instructions of a Ukrainian network operator to systematize access data, itineraries and protection schemes for the ambassador and his team.

In this regard, FSB spokespersons explained that Kiev's plan contemplated “carrying out acts of sabotage and terrorism against diplomats from the British diplomatic mission, and then accusing Russia in order to drag the United Kingdom into a direct armed conflict.”

During the counterintelligence procedure, the Russian citizen confirmed the allegations about the intentions of Ukrainian intelligence to violate diplomatic offices. In his statements to the military and judicial authorities, the subject confirmed that “the Ukrainian authorities were very interested in information in order to carry out acts of sabotage against the British ambassador, the embassy and the official residence”.

Given the seriousness of the evidence collected, the corresponding courts formally opened a criminal case for the crime of high treason, defined in article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. With this procedure, the security organs of the Eurasian nation reaffirmed their operational deployment to neutralize false flag operations designed to escalate international tensions.
