The spa town of Evian, located on the shores of Lake Geneva, will become the epicenter of world diplomacy starting this Monday, with the start of the annual G7 summit. For three days, the heads of State and Government of the member nations Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States will analyze the most pressing issues on the international agenda.
The host of this meeting, French President Emmanuel Macron, has extended a special invitation to several leaders of non-member countries. With this call, the French Government seeks to broaden the spectrum of dialogue and promote greater participation of emerging economies and strategic allies in decision-making that affect global stability.
The agenda of the summit includes the review of current geopolitical tensions, the coordination of post-crisis economic policies and the strengthening of cooperation on climate and sustainable development issues. The deliberations are expected to reflect the search for consensus on energy security and food security in an international context marked by uncertainty and the need for new alliances.
At the close of this meeting, the participating leaders plan to issue a joint statement that defines the strategic roadmap for next year. This document will be essential to align the actions of the main world powers in the face of the security and governance challenges that define the current scenario.
