Guillermo
Quiroz was announced as the new manager of the Águilas del Zulia for the 2026-2027
season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP).
The announcement was made by the Zulian team through a statement published on their
social networks, in which they detailed that after an internal evaluation process, they decided to appoint Guillermo Quiroz as
the new manager of Aguilas del
Zulia, who will be accompanied by Carlos Maldonado as bench coach. “We
trust that they will be the leaders responsible for taking our team where
we all want to go,” he said.
“We are convinced
that we have the talent to reach a final and win a championship.
We are not satisfied with the development of our latest Round Robins and we
continue to work daily to give the Zulian fans the seventh title they
so deserve,” the letter said.
He also pointed out
that with the return of a son from home like Guillermo Quiroz alongside a first-level
coaching staff, “we not only seek to compete with the highest standards,
but to maintain and strengthen that indomitable spark that has always characterized baseball in Zulia.
“We
invite all the eagle fans to join us on this journey. The goal is
clear and the work doesn't stop. Take care of it, Eagles!” , concluded.
This will be
Quiroz's first experience as a manager in Venezuela. In the big
leagues between 2018 and 2019, he was a strong Class A and Triple A coach with the Chicago White Sox, and since
2021 he has been a manager in that same organization.
In Venezuela, he played 11 of his 17 seasons in the LVBP with the rapaces.
