Iran: Magnitude 3.8 earthquake shakes eastern Tehran

A magnitude 3.8 earthquake shook the city of Pardis, in the east of the province of Tehran, on Monday morning, with no damage or casualties reported, the National Seismological Center of the Institute of Geophysics of the University of Tehran reported.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 8 kilometers, with an epicenter located 12 kilometers from Pardis, 15 from Lavasan and 16 from Bumehan, all in the province of Tehran. The authorities have not issued preventive alerts until the closing of this note, RT reported.
The eastern region of Tehran is located in one of the most active tectonic areas of the Elburz mountain range, where the activity of the Mosha fault, with an extension of between 200 and 400 kilometers, is considered to be the most active in the south of that mountain range, which explains the recurrence of seismic events in the area.
