Iranian army attacks US military bases in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait with missiles and drones

On Thursday, the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran carried out an armed offensive with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles against United States (US) military installations located in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. The action was presented by Tehran as an act of direct retaliation for the death of Iranian military personnel and civilians during recent US bombings in the region.

According to a report released by the Xinhua news agency, the Iranian contingent detailed that the projectiles hit satellite communication systems, strategic equipment warehouses and a combat aircraft hangar at the Ahmad al-Jaber airbase, in Kuwaiti territory.

The international agency also reported that the operation reached radar systems and positions of US troops at the Al Minhad air base, in the United Arab Emirates.

For its part, the United States Central Command maintained that its previous incursions were a series of planned attacks against Iranian military objectives, after noting attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps against commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and against members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

The deployment of Iranian forces also included bombings of other Washington military positions and installations in Jordan, Bahrain and the semi-autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan. Tehran's military command warned that it will continue to respond severely to any new armed action by US troops in the area.
