Letter from Iranian students appeals to the empathy of American youth

At the start of the school year in Minab County, the Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School children's community gathered to read an emotional open letter addressed to students in the United States. The letter, built on the basis of human dignity and conscience, seeks to build a direct bridge from people to people that transcends the borders imposed by Washington's aggressive policies and the biased coverage of the hegemonic media, appealing to fraternity and the shared condition of being students.

The manifesto rescues the universal experience that unites children all over the planet: the excitement of the first day of school, the enthusiasm of releasing notebooks and the warmth of the reunion with classmates. In the text, Iranian students express with deep maturity that they do not seek to hold American youth responsible for the actions of their rulers, but rather to invite them to reflect on the inalienable right of any child to study in a safe space free of violence, stressing that classrooms must be sacred anywhere in the world.

In addition, Minab students invite their peers in North America to discover the true essence of Iran, transcending the stigmatization spread by Western media corporations. The letter vindicates the ancient richness of Persian culture, its poets, its centers of wisdom and the deep vocation of their families for peace, recalling that behind the headlines there are people with history, sensitivity and dignity who reject hate speech promoted by power elites.

The document, which also honors the memory of the students who died after attacks by the governments of the United States and Israel, concludes with a call for international solidarity so that no educational institution will ever suffer the consequences of imperial aggression again.

With this action, Iranian children reaffirm their commitment to education and the defense of life, confirming that empathy and brotherhood between peoples constitute the true force to transform the future.
