Magnitude 7.4 earthquake shook southern Mexico this Friday

The National Seismological Service of Mexico recorded a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.4 off the coast of Chiapas in the south of the country, this Friday, July 17.

According to the preliminary report, the earthquake that occurred at 08:48:41 this Friday had its epicenter 95 kilometers in Ciudad Hidalgo, Chiapas, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

So far, the authorities have not reported casualties or significant damage, however, civil protection agencies and geological services are monitoring the event.
