Mexico strongly condemned and rejects the military intervention of the United States in Venezuela, considering it a clear violation of the Charter of the United Nations (UN)

“The Government of Mexico strongly condemns and rejects the military actions carried out unilaterally in the last few hours by armed forces of the United States against targets in the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in clear violation of Article 2 of the Charter of the United Nations (UN),” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

The Mexican Foreign Ministry emphasized that dialogue and negotiation represent the only legitimate and effective ways to resolve existing differences.

In this regard, Mexico reaffirmed its willingness to support any effort to facilitate dialogue, mediation or accompaniment that contributes to preserving regional peace and avoiding a confrontation of greater proportions.

The Mexican statement also urges the United Nations to act immediately to contribute to the de-escalation of tensions, facilitate dialogue and create conditions that allow for a peaceful, sustainable solution in accordance with international law.

The Mexican government made an urgent call for respect for international law and for an immediate cessation of any act of aggression against the Venezuelan government and people.
