Mexico: President Sheinbaum says trade dispute between the US and Canada will not affect the economy

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, said that the recent commercial disagreement between the United States (USA) and Canada will not affect the performance or stability of her country's economy. During her statements, the president described the situation as a specific discrepancy between the two nations and confirmed that her government is moving forward in direct talks with the U.S. administration to finalize the reduction of tariffs on steel, aluminum and vehicles produced in the country.

As part of this diplomatic and economic negotiation strategy, the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, will remain in the city of Washington throughout the week to continuously monitor the working groups on the trade agreement.

The deployment of the Mexican delegation seeks to safeguard the competitiveness of domestic exports and ensure equitable conditions for the flow of goods within the North American market.

In addition, the head of state highlighted the sustained increase in Mexican exports of electronic devices, significantly driven by the growing demand linked to the development of Artificial Intelligence in the United States.

The president stressed that the US authorities have not applied tariff measures against these technological devices, which represents an opportunity for consolidation for the national industrial sector.

With these actions, the Government of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to preserve financial certainty, promote investment attraction and maintain a permanent dialogue with its international partners. The National Executive confirmed that it will continue to monitor the evolution of the region's economic scenario to ensure the protection of employment and the productive strength of the nation.
