Mexico sends 19.5 tons of aid to Colombia

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, reported on the deployment of humanitarian aid to the Republic of Colombia, after the earthquake that affected that country.

During a press conference, the president confirmed that it was yesterday that the formal request for support was received from the Colombian government, so the response from the Mexican State was immediate.

“At 7:11 and 7:40 this Wednesday, two Mexican Air Force aircraft have already taken off for Colombia with 854 pantries, representing 19.5 tons of humanitarian aid, and obviously there are also elements of the Mexican Army to support all the tasks,” Sheinbaum said.

The president specified that this first shipment is part of a larger logistical effort that will continue in the coming days to help the affected population.

“On August 12, 13 and 14, 2,562 pantries will be sent, representing 58.5 tons of humanitarian aid. We will be in contact with the foreign ministries for all the support they require,” he said.

In addition, the President of Mexico reported that the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is in permanent communication with a Mexican children's soccer team that was in the affected area, coordinating the necessary actions to ensure their prompt and safe return to the country.
