Milei eliminates mining environmental control programs with Resolution 64/2026

The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, rescinded the Federal Project for the Monitoring of Environmental Variables in Mining through Resolution 64/2026 and eliminated the system that allowed monitoring the impacts of extractive activity in large scale operations.
In addition, to withdraw the Strategic Plan for Argentine Mining Development, the National Social Mining Plan and the Federal Network of Mining Women.
The resolution does not specify which agencies will assume control functions or what budget will sustain the tasks previously carried out by these programs, in addition to maintaining for the State the recovery of previously transferred funds.
