Moscow rules out direct talks with Kiev before US envoys visit

The government of the Russian Federation ruled out this Friday holding direct talks with the Kiev regime to stop Ukrainian attacks prior to the official visit of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The Kremlin expects that, on the eve of its arrival on Russian soil, the administration of the United States (USA) will formally demand that the Ukrainian government cease its incursions and offensives.

According to news reports citing statements by the Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, Moscow's position responds to the expectation that Washington will exert political pressure on the Kiev authorities. The official spokesperson also emphasized that Russia is keeping abreast of plans to manufacture long-range missiles on Ukrainian territory, warning that any infrastructure or facility intended for this purpose will be considered a legitimate military objective for the Russian armed forces.

At the continental diplomatic level, the Kremlin representative questioned Berlin's position, stating that the German Government made unfounded accusations against Russia in connection with a recent incident in the city of Leipzig. In the same way, the Russian spokeswoman criticized the fact that the German authorities have not fixed a position or demanded explanations from Ukraine after the sabotaged blasting of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

Despite the fact that the current status quo shows no concrete evidence of the immediate realization of a peaceful solution to the armed conflict, Moscow reiterated that diplomatic efforts remain active. In this regard, the Russian administration maintained that no avenue of negotiation is ruled out to the extent that the international work agenda advances.
