The Minister of People's Power for Health, Nuramy Gutiérrez, reported that the vaccination plan against yellow fever will reach the entire territory within an estimated period of two months.

The program continues after an initial phase in 22 parishes in Lara, Barinas, Portuguesa and Aragua, where actions are being carried out to block the circulation of the virus before extending immunization to the rest of the country, according to a press release from Úlmas Noticias.

As part of the strategy, the Ministry of Health is developing a reinforcement process aimed at the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), which, in addition to supporting the distribution of biological products, receive the dose to ensure their operational protection.

The minister recommended that citizens who travel to priority states go to health centers to get vaccinated beforehand and indicated that compatriots who enter through border crossings are treated according to an immediate immunization protocol, which includes the delivery of an official card as proof of their protection.

Gutierrez explained that the vaccine is administered only once in a lifetime, in accordance with medical recommendations. He stressed that side effects may vary depending on the body and that revaccination increases the chance of developing symptoms. “There may be more symptoms when you revaccinate,” he said, while insisting on the need to keep your vaccination card to avoid unnecessary applications.

The health authority guaranteed that the National Government has the necessary doses to cover critical areas.

Gutiérrez specified that there are groups that should not receive the dose: pregnant women and children under one year old.
