Nearly 1.5 million children and adolescents will start the school year in Cuba

Nearly 1.5 million children and adolescents in general education will start the new school year in Cuba on September 1, according to the Minister of Education, Naima Ariatne Trujillo Barreto. The incumbent announced the details of the educational day from Cepero Bonilla Elementary School, located in the Diez de Octubre municipality of Havana, as part of an institutional tour attended by President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Trujillo Barreto stressed that the opening process is already under way throughout the country, after the formal reinstatement of teaching and administrative staff to educational institutions starting this week. The early integration of workers aims to finalize organizational details, adapt school logistics and structure pedagogical plans before the mass return of students to classrooms.

Regarding the characteristics of the new academic period, the educational authority pointed out that the cycle will be marked by curricular flexibility and individualized attention to respond to the particular needs of enrollment. In the same way, he explained that the dual session regime will be implemented in schools where operating conditions allow it, articulating teaching activities with comprehensive training workshops.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that the training plan will incorporate complementary programs designed in conjunction with youth movements and local community sectors. With these measures, the authorities seek to strengthen territorial ties and guarantee social support in the development of the school calendar at different levels of education in the country.
