Omailyn Alcalá made history in the ring when she won the 42nd gold medal for Venezuela at the 25th Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

“Omailyn taught boxing, dominated the fight from start to finish and beat Mexico's Guadalupe Torres with authority, securing the first gold medal for Venezuelan boxing in this continental event. Gloria al Bravo Pueblo rumbles loudly in the ring!” , the Ministry for Sports wrote on its social media account.
