The Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, held a key meeting this Tuesday with the Iranian negotiating delegation to evaluate the latest developments in the talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States (USA), an event aimed at reducing political and military tensions in the Middle East.
The Iranian delegation was led by the President of the Parliament and chief negotiator with Washington, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi. As reported by the Oman News Agency, both sides agreed on the importance of taking advantage of the current diplomatic situation to consolidate peace efforts in the region.
Maritime commitment: During the talks, representatives of both countries emphasized their attachment to the principles of international law in order to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic maritime corridor for global energy markets and other international routes.
This approach reaffirms the historic role of Muscat as a key bridge and mediator between Iran and the West, at a time when free movement through the region's maritime routes remains under strict international observation.
