On penalties, Caracas FC defeated Metropolitanos FC and secured their presence in the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana 2026.
The match, which took place at the UCV Olympic Stadium, ended 0-0, but in the penalty shootout the Avileño club won 4-3.
The round was started by Metropolitanos with Nicolás Fedor and his execution went over the crossbar, while the team led by Fernando Aristeguieta continued with Luis Maestre and scored with a low shot placed on the right post, Caracas FC press review.
Then, Frankarlos Benítez covered the charge from Kavier Ortiz and Mauricio Márquez converted to put the lead 2-0 for Caracas.
Metropolitanos scored through Saimon Ramírez and then it was Luis Mago's turn with a shot that came out high and above the violet arc.
In the fourth round, both teams were right: George Ayine for Metropolitanos and Lucciano Reinoso for the Red. In the fifth and last, Robert Garcés managed to even out the dispute but the final decision was made by captain Francisco La Mantía, who with a strong shot and put the score 4-3 up.
The Avileño club sealed its qualification to the group stage of CONMEBOL Sudamericana for the second consecutive year.
