The Venezuelan weightlifter Mauricio Loaiza, in the 110-kilogram category, closed an impeccable performance, winning nine gold medals, during the last day of South American competitions in the city of Guayaquil in Ecuador, and the first Pan-American qualifier for the Lima 2027 Games.
The national representation celebrated the absolute dominance of the athlete in dispute thanks to a record of 160 kilograms at the start, an effective lift of 200 kilograms in envión and a cumulative total of 367 kilograms. These results gave him first place in both the youth and adult categories in both continental competitions.
The Venezuelan delegation completed its participation on Ecuadorian soil with a highly positive balance and an outstanding medal harvest from the rest of the athletes.
Jeyson Arias contributed four silver and two bronze medals; Luis Espinosa had a total of nine medals between the under-20 and adult categories; while Ángel Rodríguez and Claudia Rengifo won nine gold medals after setting national, South American and world records in the under-20 category.
