Portugal declares National Day of Mourning in solidarity with the victims of the double earthquake in Venezuela

The Prime Minister of Portugal, Luís Montenegro, reported that the European nation declared a National Day of Mourning next Sunday, July 5, in memory of the fatalities reported after the strong earthquakes that caused serious damage in Venezuela on June 24.

The Head of Government expressed through his official account on the social network X his deep gratitude for the recognition expressed by the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, of the Portuguese assistance actions, as well as for the condolences sent by the Venezuelan people to the families of the victims of Lucitan origin.

Montenegro emphasized that his administration keeps closely monitoring the performance of its teams and all the rescue work on the ground, ensuring that they remain in constant and direct contact with the Venezuelan authorities to optimize support efforts.

The official balance sheets confirmed that Portugal remains one of the nations that has provided cooperation and immediate humanitarian support to the country by deploying rescue brigades in the most vulnerable areas after earthquakes of magnitude 7.1 and 7.5.
