President (e) visits international rescue camp installed at García Carneiro stadium

The President (E) of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, visited the Jorge Luis García Carneiro Stadium, in La Guaira, where the international rescue camp is located to thank them for their work in the country at the time of a profound national catastrophe.

The president toured with members of international rescue teams, as well as with the highest representative of the United Nations in Venezuela, Gianluca Rampolla del Tindaro, who serves as the agency's Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in the country.

Both exchanged views regarding the deployment of the organ and, also, on the reach obtained in the face of the national emergency situation, following the impact of the earthquakes of last June 24.

The Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadium, located in the coastal state of La Guaira, became the logistics and command epicenter to house the international rescue forces that arrived in Venezuela to deal with the emergency caused by the double earthquake of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5.

More than 27 allied nations from different regions of the world set up their operational camps in this sports venue to coordinate the immediate technical deployment to the areas hardest hit by structural collapses.
