President of Iran: “We will not allow them to use Hormuz while they impose aggression on us”

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masud Pezeshkian, warned during his speech to the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) about his country's strategic position in international maritime routes, questioning Western powers that intend to use the Strait of Hormuz while applying sanctions against it.

In his address to the international forum, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran criticized the disparity in the use of the strategic passage, stating: “We cannot allow some to have free access to and benefit from a waterway, while at the same time using it to impose their aggressions on us.”

The President of the Islamic Republic emphasized that geopolitical stability and free navigation in the area depend on respect for the sovereignty of countries in the region, adding: “Those who seek to impose their insecurity on us cannot expect us to guarantee their commercial interests or the tranquility of their supply routes.”

Pezeshkian, rejected the presence and military interference of foreign powers in the Persian Gulf, concluding that “the security of the region must be guaranteed by the nations in the area themselves, without pressure or interference from powers that only seek their own ends.”
