President Putin met with envoys of his counterpart Trump in the Kremlin

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, met in the Kremlin with American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who arrived in Moscow this Saturday to discuss a possible solution to the Ukrainian conflict.

At the meeting, as reported by the RT agency, the president of the Eurasian nation transmitted words of thanks and best wishes to his American counterpart Donald Trump. With regard to the conflict in Ukraine, he acknowledged that the situation is not an easy issue to address.

“President Trump sent him his best wishes,” said Witkoff, thanking the Russian president for also suspending attacks against Kiev for three days.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin stressed at a press conference after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit that Moscow's objective is not to “freeze” the conflict with Kiev, but to achieve a “long and absolute peace” in Ukraine and Europe.

He reiterated his willingness to dialogue, revealing that there are current contacts with the United States, including contacts at the intelligence level, and a total openness to negotiate with Donald Trump's envoys. Finally, he addressed the reasons why Russia does not direct its response attacks against the military and political leadership of Ukraine.

In the last telephone conversation between Putin and Trump, in July, the US president “reconfirmed his willingness to contribute to the cessation of hostilities as quickly as possible and to the search for peaceful solutions to overcome the crisis,” Ushakov said at the time. “Their special representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will continue mediation efforts and will be willing to travel to Moscow at a convenient time,” he said.
