President Rodríguez on Post-Earthquake Plan: If we are going to rebuild, we want to rebuild better (+UNDP)

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, thanked the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) this Tuesday for delivering the post-earthquake resilient recovery plan.

In a meeting with the regional director of UNDP, Michelle Muschett, the Head of State indicated that “it has been a practically two-month job because, from the outset, they were active in creating a plan for development. Because if we are going to recover, we want to recover better. If we are going to rebuild, we want to rebuild better,” he said.

He said that it's not just about recovering infrastructure, “but what has to do with the human part, human development. And that plan, which was worked out with the entire Economic, Social and Services Office, the Foreign Ministry and the team of all the agencies plus the World Bank, the CAF, the Inter-American Bank, the European Union, we joined forces to have a single plan where there is a real diagnosis of the post-earthquake needs of Venezuela.

In this regard, he stressed that this plan sets a course, “it is already at the level of detail of the costs of what is required for post-earthquake recovery, we already have to work and we will continue working together,” he said.
