The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, thanked international delegations for their participation after the closing of the BRICS group summit held in the capital of the Asian nation, highlighting the productive nature of the days and the results-oriented approach achieved by the intergovernmental bloc.
During the working sessions, member countries adopted a 140-point final declaration in which they demanded the cessation of unilateral coercive measures and rejected practices of trade protectionism. In the same way, the official document called for a profound reform of the multilateral system of the United Nations (UN) to respond to current global needs.
The great event also served to consolidate cooperation between the nations of the Global South through various high-level bilateral meetings. Within the framework of the agreements reached, the bloc expressed its deep concern about the impact of the economic and energy blockade affecting Cuba, demanding the immediate lifting of sanctions against the island.
With the end of the event in Indian territory, the member States confirmed their desire to promote a multipolar international order, aimed at strengthening equitable development and ties of economic and political exchange between emerging countries.
