The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, highlighted this Thursday the strong shared commitment between his nation and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to move towards the construction of a multipolar, just and democratic world order.

During the summit held in the city of Kazan on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, the Russian president emphasized that this vision must be strictly based on international law and the essential principles contained in the Charter of the United Nations.

This consensus was formally expressed in the so-called Kazan Declaration, a document signed by the participants after the conclusion of the working sessions. This agreement reaffirms the will of sovereign states to promote a balanced security architecture that serves as a counterweight to current geopolitical turmoil, consolidating the strategic partnership between Moscow and the Asian bloc as a key stabilizing factor for the entire Asia-Pacific region.

In the economic sphere, the leaders present called for a profound transformation of their exchange mechanisms, with the objective of raising the level of practical cooperation. Faced with global challenges, delegates proposed the implementation of concrete strategies, such as carrying out financial transactions in national currencies, the elimination of tariff and non-tariff trade barriers, and the simplification of the administrative procedures necessary to streamline the flow of bilateral trade.

The summit underscored the intention to expand collaboration in strategic sectors that include energy and food security, biosecurity, the development of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.

With this approach, Russia and the ASEAN countries committed themselves to maintaining constant high-level contacts, ensuring that the decisions taken in Kazan translate into effective and sustainable results that favor the socio-economic development of all the nations involved in the coming years.
