The spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, reported this Thursday that the Kiev authorities have orchestrated a media montage in connection with the recent fire in the Kiev Cave Monastery.

According to the diplomat, this incident is being used by the Ukrainian regime as a strategic tool to try to justify and increase the urgency of receiving greater financial and military support from its international allies.

Zakharova described the fact as a deliberate fabrication, pointing out that the narrative presented by the Ukrainian Government lacks veracity and seeks, fundamentally, to manipulate public opinion. The spokeswoman emphasized that these actions are part of a recurring tactic to obtain additional resources through victimization in the face of events that, according to the Russian version, do not correspond to the reality described by Kiev.

The Russian official stressed the seriousness of using spaces of historical and religious value for purely political or propaganda purposes. In this regard, he urged the international community to maintain a critical judgment in the face of complaints issued from the Ukrainian capital, questioning transparency and the reasons behind the immediate dissemination of this type of information in the current context of the conflict.

Moscow called for an objective examination of the events that occurred on June 15, flatly rejecting the accusations that attempt to link Russia to the deterioration of the facilities.

With this statement, the Foreign Ministry reaffirms its vigilant stance in the face of what they call disinformation campaigns aimed at eroding the Russian image before the global community.
