Russia developed a prototype of a vaccine against lung cancer

The director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology in Moscow, Alexander Gintsburg, reported that a team of Russian researchers developed a prototype vaccine against non-small cell lung cancer.

“There is a prototype vaccine against non-small cell lung cancer. It is the most common type of cancer, since it mainly affects smokers,” he explained in an interview with TASS.

The scientist highlighted that the center is working on the development of vaccines against other types of cancer, which are based on the scheme that served as the basis for the creation of NeoOncoVac, a personalized mRNA drug for the treatment of melanoma.

Moscow also signed a memorandum of understanding with Havana for the joint development of cancer vaccines.
