In the framework of recent diplomatic negotiations, the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, where Moscow expressed its positive assessment of the efforts undertaken by Türkiye to achieve a solution to the conflict in Ukraine.

During the session, Lavrov stressed that any effective and lasting resolution to the crisis must necessarily address the root causes that gave rise to it. He also described as outrageous the recent actions taken by Ukraine regarding the burial of remains belonging to Nazi criminals who were convicted at the time by the Nuremberg court.

These measures have generated a strong reaction from the Russian delegation, which maintains that the current government of Volodymir Zelensky is actively promoting policies aimed at the rehabilitation of ideologies linked to Nazism.

In addition to addressing the situation in Ukraine, Foreign Minister Lavrov offered a perspective on the dynamics of transatlantic relations in the current context. The Russian diplomat noted that, from the vision of Moscow, the Trump Administration is showing a tendency to distance itself from European issues, particularly with regard to the commitments and contributions of the United States to the security of the continent.

These points were presented as part of Russia's official position before the press after the high-level meetings with the Turkish authorities ended. The meeting reaffirms the importance that the Kremlin attaches to diplomatic channels led by Ankara to try to manage the complex tensions that the region is currently experiencing.
