Russian Foreign Minister to deploy more than 30 bilateral meetings at the UN General Assembly

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavro v, will head his country's delegation in New York during the 81st session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), where he will develop an intense diplomatic agenda that includes more than 30 bilateral meetings with strategic allies such as Venezuela, Brazil and Cuba, as well as senior authorities of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

One of the central points of the diplomatic day will be the scheduled meeting between the Russian Foreign Minister and the Secretary of State of the United States (USA) Marco Rubio. The meeting seeks to evaluate the conditions for a possible resumption of peace negotiations regarding the conflict in Ukraine, giving continuity to the talks that both diplomats held last July.

The rapprochement between the two powers takes place in a scenario of high international tension, marked by the pressure of economic sanctions promoted by Washington. These measures include legal mechanisms that allow the imposition of tariffs of up to 100% on those countries that maintain purchases of Russian hydrocarbons, a factor that adds complexity to political dialogue and to the stability of global energy markets.
